CLEANING THE PODIUM® BIG CHILL BOTTLE
The Podium® Big Chill Bottle is dishwasher-safe and easy to clean. Remove the cap assembly, making sure the Jet Valve™ lockout is open, and place it with the bottle on the top rack of your dishwasher. For best results, we recommend avoiding high-heat settings such as 'sanitary clean' or 'heat boost' which may distort plastic components. We don’t recommend forcing a brush or other cleaning tool through the Jet Valve cross-slit (i.e. where you drink).

Please note that the Podium caps are primarily composed of two components: the Jet Valve™ and the silicone nozzle. To wash the cap by hand, pull off the silicone nozzle and wipe cap with a soapy sponge. Rinse thoroughly and snap the nozzle back on. Do not disassemble small parts of the cap Jet Valve. Disassembly of the plastic cap could lead to leaks or product malfunction.

FAQ

I’m used to the CamelBak bite valve, where’s the bite valve on this bottle?
The Podium® Bottle and Podium® Chill are designed specifically for cycling, offering optimum, hassle-free hydration via an innovative feature called the CamelBak® Jet Valve™. Made from medical-grade silicone and designed to flow automatically when you squeeze the bottle, the Jet Valve vents pressure and seals shut automatically when you’re done. It’s simple—no biting involved. So say goodbye to yanking your old pop-top bottle open with your teeth and bashing it shut on your hip, as well as bothersome drips and leaks.

OK, I get the Jet Valve™, but do I still need to suck on the nozzle to drink?
It’s your choice. You can either put the nozzle between your lips, or just open your mouth and squirt. The Jet Valve™ opens automatically when you squeeze, then shuts automatically to prevent drips. Since there’s no pop-top valve to shut off, you can guide the nozzle into helmet vents easily without accidentally shutting off the valve.

Explain the lockout valve under the nozzle. Do I need to shut this off every time I drink?
No. The Jet Valve™ keeps your bottle sealed and drip-free during use. The rotary valve under the nozzle on the cap is actually a secondary lock-out. We recommend using the lock-out exclusively for storage, i.e. if you’re storing the bottle in a bike bag or trunk. Leave it open during rides or for easy access when you’re drinking from the bottle. You can also lock out your backup bottle on the bike to prevent any unexpected squirts from potholes or other big hits.

How does the Podium® Chill Bottle insulation work?
The Podium® Chill features a unique, low-profile double-wall construction with a layer of airtight, insulating foam. Compared to other insulated bike bottles that can be stiff or bulky (or both), the Chill bottle is lightweight, easy to squeeze, and fits a lot of water volume into a small space. That’s why we call it, “Cool without Compromise.”

Can I put sports drinks in the Podium® Bottle or Podium® Chill Bottle?
Absolutely. However, make sure to clean the bottle thoroughly after each use.

Can I use carbonated beverages?
Yes. The Jet Valve™ automatically vents pressure so that “fizz” will not cause pressure buildup. Please note, if the lockout is shut off, there will be pressure buildup, which isn’t dangerous, but could lead to unexpected spray when opened.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
Warm beverages are OK in the Podium® provided they're not hot enough to burn your mouth. Extra-hot or boiling water can distort the plastic in the bottle but warm tea is a nice treat for a cold ride.

Is the bottle microwave-safe?
We don’t recommend heating the bottle in a microwave since contents can heat unevenly. We only recommend putting warm liquids in the Podium® and Podium® Chill Bottles.

Can I freeze the bottle?
You can freeze the bottle, but before you do, make sure that the bottle is only partially full. We recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice. Place the bottle in the freezer right side up. Remember: you won’t be able to drink until components have thawed.

As an avid bicyclist a good water bottle is a must have, especially for long trail rides. Thanks to Camelbak, I had the opportunity to try out their Big Chill insulated bottle. I've used and tested it for 2 weeks now and my overall first impressions are that it's a great bottle for anyone on the go. Able to hold 25 ounces of cool liquid, its rather compact, so it fits nicely into the bottle cage on my large frame 26 inch bike. Just to be sure, if you are planning to use this on your bicycle, if you have a smaller frame bicycle or a ladies bike, you may want to measure first to ensure that the bottle will fit.
Now on to construction and materials, made from a lightweight BPA free plastic with insulation and a spillproof Jet Valve, it is very easy to quench your thirst without the hassle of having to stop your bike, pull off the cap, pull up the stopper, taking time off of your ride. Having used other bottles, I can say that this bottle is the easiest to use. It is relatively easy to squeeze and the Jet Valve provides a nice burst of water. Since it is insulated, the water stays cool and refreshing for hours. The only downside is, as with most plastic bottles, is that it scratches easily when pulling it in and out of the bottle cage. If you are not using it for cycling, or don't plan on placing it in some sort of holder, scuffing most likely will not be a problem.
All in all the Camelbak Podium BigChill is a great bottle. I wouldn't hesititate to recommend it to those with active lifestyles or just someone searching for a nice, insulated bottle. Added bonus: The lifetime warranty on the cap means you never have to worry about leaks or breakage.

I've got 2 of these bottles - for rides under 30mi I'll take one, over 30 I'll take both. In my experience, they hold water cold for hours, but ice melts in about an hour. Probably depends on temperature of water you first put in the bottle.

My gripe that brought me here today looking for a fix: from the moment I bought these bottles (months apart at separate stores) they leak. I can tighten the top on really tight, then they leak less, but they still leak. When I'm on the bike, I don't mind too much, but before/after rides if I go to take a swig, I've got a mess to clean up in the house.

Comments about CamelBak Podium® Big Chill 25oz:

Been using the chills for several years. Would never go back to standard bottles.
Very little issue with leaks but the mouth piece is the best on the market. No fiddling around to open and close.
Grab the bottle, squirt, put it back – all in one quick movement. No loss of pedalling rhythm and no mess.

I freeze a smoothy for long rides and it thaws out in about 4 – 5 hours, just when I really need it!

Comments about CamelBak Podium® Big Chill 25oz:

I have only one that I use for cycling. It does a great job of keeping water cold but i am very disappointed at the rate at which it leaks.

The leak is not just a trickle but a rather large flow making it a challenge to stay dry.

I used it only once and never again!

A simple rubber seal, the cost of pennies, would make all the difference.

I had high hopes for this bottle following reviews and personal experience of an Eddy bottle. You can only squirt water into your mouth, sometimes choking when it hits the back of your throat, nozzle tastes horrible. As I use it at night to remain hydrated, I ended up with a soaked PJ top - not funny, on the other hand it does keep water cool which you can then squirt into a glass at arms length, for that reason and the expense I shall keep it

I have had 2 of these, ordered from Camelbak, for about 3 weeks now. I was hesitant at first due to reviews about leaks, but figured, what the heck. $28 for two bottles I took my chances. I have used both bottles, and there is not a leak one, either at the mouth piece or the lid. I wouldn't trade them for anything

          * Love the jet valve that lets you sip or squirt at will
          * Water stay cool for good duration
          -----------------------------------------------------------------
          * Yes if you do not tighten it properly it will leak
          * My BIGGEST complain - when I am riding bike the drinking tip gets all dusty and muddy. I try to wrap a plastic around it but then it makes drinking while on the go impossible. If "Camelbak" is really listening please come up with a replacement cap that has a cover on top. For this reason I have stopped using Camelbak bottle and started using a different one with a lid cover.

I've got two and they both leak from the lid. I've tried the various methods mentioned on forums but to no avail. One of them can be tightened using gorilla hands and is (mostly) leak-free. The other leaks (actually, gushes) water down my shirt every darned time no matter how carefully it is closed.

Given the large number of people complaining about this you would think Camelback would do something about it, surely? Hasn't really inspired me to go out and buy a 3rd product from them I have to say...

I use electrolytes in my drinks, the salt is not good for my bike cables. I have 4 of the smaller 21oz bottles, they are just great.

I use these bottles for everything, cycling, hiking, trips in the car, plane, etc. The seal is not quite as good as a fully flat screw top hard plastic bottle, but it seals much better than an ordinary sport bottle. I would not put it inside a down sleeping bag, but I think nothing about putting one inside my day pack.
My go-to bottle. I am surprised people have had trouble with leaking - that is the best part of these bottles: they don't leak.
