PACK CLEANING
We recommend wiping your pack with a damp cloth to remove dirt. If the pack is extremely dirty and needs a deeper cleaning, soak it in cool or warm water with a very mild soap. Rinse the pack thoroughly with cool water. If soap residue remains in the fabric, it may create suds if exposed to water or sweat.

DO NOT wash your pack in a washing machine. Machine washing may damage the pack or affect the integrity of the fabric and fasteners, and will void the Got Your Bak™ Guarantee.

RESERVOIR CLEANING
The best way to care for your reservoir is to clean and dry it after every use, especially if you fill the reservoir with anything other than water. However, if a reservoir has not been cleaned after every use, and mold or discoloration develops:

  1. Use hot water and a CamelBak Cleaning Tablet. (Or use 2 tablespoons of baking soda or bleach instead of CamelBak Cleaning Tab.) Mix the solution inside your reservoir and elevate the reservoir above the tube and Big Bite Valve. Pinch the bite valve, allowing the solution to flow into the drink tube and fill the bite valve.
  2. Let the reservoir and cleaning solution sit in the reservoir and drink tube for about 30 minutes.
  3. Wash the reservoir with hot water and mild soap. Be sure to completely rinse away the cleaning solution in the reservoir and drink tube before using again. You can also use CamelBak brushes from our Cleaning Kit to scrub your reservoir and drink tube. Brushes are the best way to ensure you are scrubbing all of the areas of the reservoir clean.
  4. Once the reservoir is clean, be sure to air dry overnight so no moisture is trapped inside, which can cause mold to grow.

These steps will make your reservoir safe for use. If there are still spots left behind, these are permanent mold stains that may not be removable. However, your reservoir is still safe and usable after you’ve cleaned it.

        My first Camelbak...but not last!

Comments about CamelBak Mil Tac M.U.L.E.®:

              Ahoy, there!
A year ago, I bought a black MilTac "MULE 500"...and since that, I do not take it off!
I consider this pack the best for ultralight trekking, daily use and other outdoor purposes, when you do not need to carry a large amount of gear.

After 1 year of rugged use, that pack seems as good as new(lotta thanks to you for quality, guys! I really appreciate it!)
Especially, I love these velcro stripes on the shoulder strap tips that help to adjust and hold the nylon straps rolled up without excessive lenght. Never seen that before! So comfortable like this!
Another one detail I consider importaint is nylon fabric the straps are made of. Very tight and robust, and after 1 year of dayly use, it seems to be new, and does not get lose.

Talking about "OMEGA" bladder is excessive, too. Super-reliable and easy to care. Even at -40'C. Once I filled it with snow(thanks to its wide mouth) to get some water.

"MULE" is amazing and almost complete, but I added some details on my own, such as nylon sleeve over neoprene insulated tube cover, for extra-insulation and improving its reliability in super-rigorous weather conditions of where I live, especially, in winter.
And also, I added a pair of nylon loops and elastic cords for trekking poles and ice axe, nylon straps for MSS/sleeping matwoobie/basha on the bottom of pack.
I wouldn't mind the "MULE" with some additional MOLLE on upper pocket and on both sides of lower compartment, to carry some more gear such as canteens with boiling cup, some extra MOLLE pouches etc.
Regardless of these exemptions, your "MULE 500" is just a prefect model of ultralight backpack. 5 stars, Camelbak!
              That's all.
Oh, by the way, I am going to get some pack a bit larger than "MULE" and a bit smaller than that huge 100 Ltr. marchroute backpack I use for multi-day hikes.
Make sure, it is going to be the Camelbak's one! I think it's BFM in Foliage Green. And despite of your backpacks are quite expensive(as well as shipping to Russia from the USA), I am going to buy Camelbak only. Quality's worth it.
You have created new standards for backpack, guys.

              I repeat:
When I say, "Camelbak", I mean "backpack".
When I say, "backpack", I mean "Camelbak".

Thanks a lot for super-quality, guys!
I just adore your products(I use "MULE 500" and "SABRE").

With all the respect and true to you,
              Pavel Fedoseev,
              your solid buyer from Russia.

I picked mine up before I was deployed to Iraq in 2005. I use this bag everyday, the front pouch hold 4 disc golf discs or you can cram 9 cans of spray paint in the bag. If I'm riding my bike i can out every tool I need and every tool I don't need plus lunch and still have room. It's perfect for day hikes or any sort of adventuring you can think of. If you manage to rip the bag, it does not continue to rip. I ripped mine three years ago and it has not grown at all. This is the best bag, maybe best purchase I have ever made. This is the one you want.

My son and I both have these packs which we use on a regular basis while hiking. Holds enough water to last me all day, even when we hiked Grand Teton and Yellowstone last year. The cargo capacity is just right for the basics, Med Kit, Survival Kit, Food and a Handgun. The Molle Straps on the back also make attaching a supplemental pouch possible if need be. I use the side loops as hard points to carry my Tomahawk which secures it very well. The straps and back are padded enough that I can wear it fully loaded all day and it never gets uncomfortable. I definitely recommend this pack for hiking and camping.

Comments about CamelBak Mil Tac M.U.L.E.®:

I bought this pack in early 2007 before my first deployment. I wore it through two deployments and countless training exercises around the country.
Even though I left the Infantry I still use this pack. I wear it on my sportbike, while Trail Running with a pistol in it, hiking, grouse hunting, etc.
In the Infantry this thing was great. Big enough to hold whatever I needed from stripped down MRE's, an extra piece of snivel gear, IPOD, etc.
I've owned this pack for 7 years and it's still going. Buy one and you won't regret it!

Spartan Races are no joke. And since I'm in the military still,I knew Camelbak would not let me down. I even had to low crawl under barbed wire in this race.Camelbak did not rip apart when i had to drag it on the ground. Nor did it bust any when I had to tosss it 30 yds ahead of me to complete an obstical.

I've been using this as my hiking day pack for years. It's just big enough to hold the basic survival/safety equipment and a snack, though with no room left over. If you expect to be in and out of a jacket, you may be better off with the "civilian" MULE (its expandable pocket is handy, though I really wish the civilian model came with MOLLE webbing). Nevertheless, this is an excellent pack for minimalist day-trekking or summiting from a base camp.
