RESERVOIR CLEANING
The best way to care for your reservoir is to clean and dry it after every use, especially if you fill the reservoir with anything other than water. However, if a reservoir has not been cleaned after every use, and mold or discoloration develops:

  1. Use hot water and a CamelBak Cleaning Tablet. (Or use 2 tablespoons of baking soda or bleach instead of CamelBak Cleaning Tab.) Mix the solution inside your reservoir and elevate the reservoir above the tube and Big Bite Valve. Pinch the bite valve, allowing the solution to flow into the drink tube and fill the bite valve.
  2. Let the reservoir and cleaning solution sit in the reservoir and drink tube for about 30 minutes.
  3. Wash the reservoir with hot water and mild soap. Be sure to completely rinse away the cleaning solution in the reservoir and drink tube before using again. You can also use CamelBak brushes from our Cleaning Kit to scrub your reservoir and drink tube. Brushes are the best way to ensure you are scrubbing all of the areas of the reservoir clean.
  4. Once the reservoir is clean, be sure to air dry overnight so no moisture is trapped inside, which can cause mold to grow.

These steps will make your reservoir safe for use. If there are still spots left behind, these are permanent mold stains that may not be removable. However, your reservoir is still safe and usable after you’ve cleaned it.

I got this to use for longer cycling trip 20+ mile but since getting it now just use it whenever I bike. I go through a lot of water when ridding through the city with my son in tow in his trailer with lots of amenities (diapers, food, extra food and clothes.) I used to end up refilling my old reservoir on my trips back home but since getting this no longer have the need. Ice cubes fit in well along with the water to keep it cool, also the insulated tube makes it nice so that on 90+ days the water isn't hot from the sun baking the tube.
Only with is that the bite valve had a bent in it.

I purchased this item several weeks ago for hiking and recreational uses as well as for when I deploy. I have more than a few Camelbak products but this was my first reservoir. I am extremely disappointed that I have to write this review. Every time I fill the reservoir, It only takes a few minutes before I can feel the water seeping through my backpack and onto my lower back. And this isn't a slow leak either. It will begin to drip onto my legs. Subsequently, each time it would leak I would remove the reservoir and attempt to diagnose the issue but the leaking would stop when removed. My observation of the wet materials around the hose connection point suggests that that is the origin of the leak although I cannot find any visible component failures.

Comments about CamelBak Coyote Mil Spec Antidote Reservoir 100 oz Short:

Bought this to use in my 5.11 Rush24 backpack. This 100 oz bladder fits easily in the hydration area. Love that the Antidote came with the sleeve for the drinking tube.
Haven't used it yet, but fully intend to during my trip to Big Bend... in July. The reservoir seems to be more durable than the recreational version, I guess we will see.

Comments about CamelBak Coyote Mil Spec Antidote Reservoir 100 oz Short:

I am military, but I also am huge on outdoors activities (i.e. hiking, biking, etc). I currently use the 5.11 Rush24 as my EDC bag (I take it to work and for recreational activities). I bought this reservoir primarily to fit better in my backpack even though I have other Camelbak products. It's my best purchase from Camelbak by far. It fits my needs wonderfully and matches my backpack (the coyote reservoir matches 5.11's dark earth color way). It's a perfect size for a hiking trip and lasts through extensive use. Recommend to anyone who wants something compact, lasts long, and is compatible with other tactical gear.
