CLEANING THE EDDY STAINLESS
The eddy Stainless bottle can be easily cleaned with a bottle brush using warm water and mild soap.

Cleaning the lid:
The bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid:
Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

The bite valve on my new bottle doesn't have a slit (opening) and I can't drink from it
The self-sealing silicone can sometimes seal tightly before first use. To open, squeeze the bite valve and twist & roll between your fingertips. This should loosen the seal and open it up for drinking. If you're still experiencing problems, please request a new bite valve using our Warranty Parts Form.

What are CamelBak® Stainless Bottles made of?
All materials in CamelBak® bottles are selected for their safety, durability, and cleanability. All materials are BPA-free and safe for use in a hydration bottle. CamelBak® does not use materials that contain harmful phthalates.

The new CamelBak® eddy™ Stainless Insulated .5L and eddy™ Stainless .7L are made with medical-grade stainless steel. Stainless steel is a special type of steel that is naturally stain-resistant, corrosion-resistant and taste free. Because of these unique benefits, stainless steel is used in a variety of products from cookware and mugs to medical and surgical devices and food processing equipment. Stainless steel is strong, scratch-resistant and provides a naturally bright, clean finish without coatings or paints.

The CamelBak® eddy™ caps used on our stainless steel bottles are made primarily from polypropylene, with other plastics that are all BPA-free and free of harmful phthalates. The bite valve is medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance. The straw is made of polyethylene, the same material used in milk jugs.

Why stainless steel and not aluminum?
When we design a product we look for the best material to satisfy customer requirements. For metal bottles, consumers tell us they prefer the durability and purity of stainless steel. Aluminum bottles have to be made with an inner coating or liners—often with undisclosed ingredients—to protect the metal, which isn’t required on a stainless steel bottle. Stainless steel is also stronger, harder and more scratch resistant than aluminum, making a more durable long-lasting bottle for all your adventures.

What is vacuum insulation and how is it made?
To make our Insulated .5L bottle we first construct an inner and outer bottle which are sealed together and welded shut to be completely air-tight. Then the bottle is connected to a high-power vacuum pump which removes all the air from the gap in between the inner and outer bottle. Since there’s nothing to conduct heat across the gap, vacuum insulation is more effective than foam or other common insulating materials. Vacuum insulation works so well, it is the technology of choice for cryogenic storage tanks and other high-performance insulating vessels. Our vacuum insulated bottle can keep your beverages cool for hours.

Thanks to the people at Camelbak I had the chance to give the Camelbak Stainless Steel Eddy bottle a go and I am now a fan for life. Whether you are on the go or just relaxing at home, the Eddy is a great bottle. I tend to be on the clumsy side, so I use this bottle in place of a glass on my bedside table at night. With the no spill bite valve, there is no problem if you knock it over while fumbling for a drink or if you drop while you're on a hike. Since it's insulated stainless steel, breaking this bottle is pretty much impossible. The bite valve takes a little getting used to, but the flip down design is nice if you like a little added protection from dust and dirt while outdoors without the inconvenience of an easy to lose cap. The loop on the lid is great for carrying but you don't really need it unless you plan to hook it on your backpack. The bottle is cool to the touch but doesn't "sweat". The insulation does the job and keeps water cool for hours on end. This is a great bottle. The only downside would be that it isn't suitable for hot beverages.

Recently I found that CamelBak started to make bottles from stainless steel. In hope that this one will not smell I bought this bottle. In the section "Product Specification" is written "Bottle Material: BPA-Free 302 Stainless Steel". And how I was surprised when after I got it on and opened, I revealed that bottle material has plastic upper. Please see attached photo. I don't have a problem with plastic but in this case, like in previous bottle, this plastic produces strong plastic smell - exactly the thing that I tried to avoid when purchased stainless steel bottle.

May you please answer questions below.
What is a material of plastic part?
Why on the site is not written that a bottle has also plastic part besides stainless steel?
Why on the site written "Naturally 100% BPA-Free, taste-free stainless steel. No inner liners or plastic coatings that aluminum bottles require." but in reality it has plastic?

Thanks.

I use my waterbottle, every day. This is my 3rd one. They get very heavy use and has been dropped many times. (after being dropped and dented multiple times, the seal broke.) I took the bottle to Europe and used it for water for 3 weeks. It is easily cleaned. The cap started leaking and I just placed a inquiry on line and a new cap and tube were mailed to me. Great product

I am a LONG TIME user of this awesome Double-walled stainless steel thermos. I've tried plastic insulated and it doesn't even come CLOSE to the insulation you get from this Camelbak. This is my all-day go-to for water. I fill it with ice in the morning and can refill it 2 - 3 times enjoying ice-cold water all day before all the ice is gone. At night I fill it and keep it by my bed and, even in the summer with the air off, I still have ice cold water in the morning. But my favorite rave is when we take it out of the platoon boat. We don't have a large boat so our water sits in the sun and although the other thermos we bring are warm within 3 hours, the insulated stainless steel camelback (although the ice may melt in the direct sunlight) stays cold for over 4 hours. Also I've dropped it on our concrete building stairs, in my driveway and on all kinds of hard surfaces and while the stainless steel has plenty of dings on it, it has not leaked or cracked or affected it's insulation at all. Highly recommend this product to anyone who LOVES COLD WATER!

I hate drinking warm or hot water and since I live in Arizona, these are the best. I have lost 63lbs as far and drinking two of these daily has help in my weight loss and well as feeling great. I recommend these to everyone.

I have owned this product for approximately one year and it was my favorite bottle. I used it everyday for biking to and from class as well as general hydration throughout the day. Recently, I had just filled the bottle and upon attempting to tighten the lid, it just spun freely. Closer inspection revealed the plastic piece around the top was cracked top to bottom. So it lasted about a year which is not that great for a bottle of this price.

Without a car, I spend a tremendous amount of time walking all over town. I previously had a Camelbak Eddy, a plastic insulated bottle in an orange color called Fire. It didn't leak, but by the time I got to the other side of town, my water was warm. I tried a bunch of different bottles, different brands. They all sucked, to put it nicely. I was hesitant to buy another Camelbak, but I had heard some good things about this stainless steel version, so I bought one in blue. 1st, the blue is even nicer in person. I filled the bottle with water, and some ice cubes. I walked all around town, and was ready for some water. I am not a fan of the bite valve, so I unscrewed the cap to get a drink. I was expecting warm water, but to my surprise, the ice cubes had not even melted. Say wha?! You read that correctly, the water was ICE COLD. This is a bottle I will carry with me every day. Don't hesitate to purchase, this is the best water bottle in existence. I wanted a coupon code, what kind of sucks is Camelbak website provides a coupon AFTER you have made your purchase, to be used next time. Oh well, this bottle was well worth full price.

I use my bottles every day all day long. At home I fill a bottle with ice and RO water in the morning and set it on the kitchen counter. During the day I just add more RO water. As a do my house work I always have cold water available. I fill a bottle and take it with in the van when I go any place; the bottles fit in the cup holders of my mini van just fine. The water stays cold all day, even in on 90 degree days. I fill a bottle and set on the patio so I have cold water available as I do gardening. I hate the taste of Minneapolis city water, so I filled the 3 bottles I owned at home and took them to the ICU where I work. Last week I forgot 2 of the bottles at work and they disappeared (guess other people know a good product when they see it). I will be ordering more bottles to replace the lost ones. I have had my bottles several years and so far no rust or no breakage issues. My bottles to get dropped on occasion and so far other than a few very small dents no problems. The only negative I can state is each bottle is only 0.5liters, only about 2 cups. Wished there would be a 0.75 or 1.0 liter bottles.
