CLEANING THE EDDY INSULATED
The eddy Insulated bottle can be easily cleaned with a bottle brush using warm water and mild soap.

CLEANING THE LID:
The bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

TO RE-ASSEMBLE THE LID:
Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink? The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

The bite valve on my new bottle doesn't have a slit (opening) and I can't drink from it The self-sealing silicone can sometimes seal tightly before first use. To open, squeeze the bite valve and twist & roll between your fingertips. This should loosen the seal and open it up for drinking. If you're still experiencing problems, please request a new bite valve using our Warranty Parts Form.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?
You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
Hot liquids or boiling water should not be used in the CamelBak® eddy™. We do not recommend hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw. Additionally, we do not recommend boiling the bottle itself.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with warm water up to 65 ºC/149 ºF or stored in below freezing temperatures.

Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?
Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

I thought this insulated bottle would solve all my problems but I love it anyway (turns out I am too demanding). This bottle does not keep water/ice cool any longer than a disposable water bottle. I felt like the bottle was empty after I took one big sip so it is best used indoor where you can refill it often. 600ml is not a whole lot. The best thing about this bottle is the no condensation on the outside. Other bottles will have a puddle of "sweat" under the bottle but this one is safe to put on paper. I say it's fun to use because the rubber opening is soft and smooth and it causes me to drink more which is good

After using my standard Camelbak everyday for 4 years, my husband surprised me with this one! I never had an issue with my old camelbak (even though I used it everyday, traveled with it, dropped it, etc). After using this eddy for just a few months, it started leaking badly. I would make sure that the lid was screwed on tightly, put it in my bag (completely upright) and half the water would leak out leaving my bag soaked. Recently, when I have picked it up off the table to take a drink it will spew water all over me at the exact moment I bite down on the mouthpiece. I think the issue may be in the cap or under the mouthpiece. Sadly, I think I may have to buy another standard.

    Leaks a lot!

Comments about CamelBak eddy™ Insulated .6L:

I bought this primarily for when I play golf. I thought it would make an excellent bottle for long rounds when I walk and it fit perfectly in the hydration pocket of my golf bag; boy was I was wrong.

The bottle leaks a "ton". It leaked all over my car interior when it was in my golf bag. It leaked all over my clothes during my golf round, staining and ruining them. I thought it might be the bottle or cap so I got replacement parts; it still leaked and still got all over my clothes before finishing the first hole! The bottle is more upright than on it's side based on how I wear my golf bag.

I wrote to Camelbak and here is what they said:"The Bottle design is SPILL-proof, but certainly not free form slow leaking if left on its side for long periods."

Long periods in my experience are equal to less than a minute and it doesn't say anything about a slow leak if left on its side in the item description. I purchased the item at a sporting good store and wish I read the reviews prior to purchasing.

I would only consider this if you plan on using it for water (colored liquids will stain and leak) and plan on keeping it upright all the time. Neither are reasons that I've purchased the product. Really disappointed and cost me more in damaged clothes and car details than 20 of these things.

Comments about CamelBak eddy™ Insulated .6L:

Camelbak makes cool water bottles! They come in cool colors but they are NOT reasonable for everyday use. I try to take it to the gym, it leaks. I put it in my backpack, it leaks. I put it on my desk, it leaks. The eddy's are spill proof (good) but not leak proof? Are you kidding me? It's basically the same thing... It's great that my water bottle won't SPILL in my bag but it will definitely LEAK everywhere. I've been faithful to camelbak for about 3 water bottles but now I'm going to have to find an alternative that is more reasonable to carry around with me all day.

I love camelbak and was excited when I got my first stainless steel bottle with the original lid. I loved it so much I bought the insulated ones, but they come with the modified lid and they are terrible. My original lid still in great shape and works fine. The new modified lids only last a couple months and then they start leaking. I can't even put it in my work bag because the water leaks all over the place. Very disappointed with this product from camelbak and hope they revise things. The bottles are not cheap so it's a real drag.

Comments about CamelBak eddy™ Insulated .6L:

I previously had several Camelback stainless steel bottles of the old design that I used every day which were fine except the spouts kept breaking. But, they would keep ice from melting and water cold all day long. When I saw that the Eddy was insulated and had a new design, I bought it. Unlike other reviewers, here where I live in Florida, if ice is added to the bottle, it does form condensation. More disappointingly, it does not keep the ice from melting rapidly or keep the water cool after the ice has melted. I much prefer my old stainless steel bottles. Maybe the new stainless steel design spout will not break so easily like my old bottles did, but I hate to pay the high cost of yet another Camelback bottle.

Comments about CamelBak eddy™ Insulated .6L:

I bought this because the ghastly humidity in the midwest makes water bottles sweat like crazy. The double walls keep the bottle dry even on the worst summer days here. I can carry it in a bag with a camera or ereader and not worry that my electronics are going to get wet. Drinks stay cold a bit longer compared to a regular Eddy, although not like in an actual thermos.

On my old Eddy, the one-way air valve eventually started leaking (I need to replace the lid). This one is solid so far. It even survives the pressure changes in airplanes without leaking!

I have the 2-color "Lavender" one and people comment on the interesting look. I've carried it in the side pocket of my class backpack every day for six months and it looks brand new.

Bought this a month ago, I wanted a new Camelbak and saw the insulated bottle. When I went to clean it I noticed mold growing in the straw and the clear rubber part in the cap where you attach the straw. I left gatorade in the bottle for a couple of days before this. Now I'm afraid to leave it out overnight anymore. Never had this problem with the old cap.

I'm on my third bottle, the first two ended up leaking in the cap. When I bought the third one, I noticed a slight difference in design of the top cap so I decided to give it another chance. Two months later the top cap is leaking.

I haven't dropped the bottle, or put it in a dishwasher and I'm very careful with my gear. Quite simply, it seems the cap wears out and isn't meant to last with daily use.

My search for a bottle that doesn't leak, that I can use all day long, every day continues. I had high hopes for Camelbak but I'll look elsewhere.
