CLEANING THE EDDY STAINLESS
The eddy Stainless bottle can be easily cleaned with a bottle brush using warm water and mild soap.

Cleaning the lid:
The bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid:
Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

Do I need to clean the bottle before first use?
The stainless steel bottle is easily cleaned by hand with a bottle brush, using warm water and mild soap if desired.

The cap assembly can be cleaned in the top rack of a household dishwasher. The straw and bite valve may be removed from the cap to help provide better cleaning of the inside passages of the cap. It’s a good idea to place small parts in a top-rack basket, if available.

The bite valve on my new bottle doesn't have a slit (opening) and I can't drink from it
The self-sealing silicone can sometimes seal tightly before first use. To open, squeeze the bite valve and twist & roll between your fingertips. This should loosen the seal and open it up for drinking. If you're still experiencing problems, please request a new bite valve using our Warranty Parts Form.

How do I clean the CamelBak® stainless steel bottles?
The stainless steel bottle can be easily cleaned by hand with a bottle brush using warm water and mild soap.

The straw, bite valve and cap are dishwasher-safe. Simply remove the straw and bite valve from the cap and place in the top rack for washing, or hand-wash with warm water and soap.

Some other bottles talk about “extruded” construction. How are your stainless steel bottles constructed?
Metal extrusion is a process by which a single piece of metal is compressed under extremely high pressures to stretch it into a new shape, like a bottle. Extrusion processes place a lot of stress on the material and also consume a lot of energy. Our stainless steel bottles are made with a welded construction. At the start, a precision-rolled sheet of steel is cut and formed under low pressure into the shape of the bottle, then welded. Finally the bottle is ground and brushed to provide a finished appearance. Welded construction gives more freedom and control over product shape and design, and also enables us to create a lightweight double-wall vacuum bottle for our .5L insulated eddy™.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?
You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

I purchased this bottle about two years ago. I work in an office setting and wanted a more durable bottle (I own multiple Camelbaks) to use at work where it would sometimes get knocked off a table. While the stainless steel took some dents to the bottom of the bottle, I never had any problems with leaks.

The biggest issue was the design of the mouth of the bottle. The plastic molding was used on the mouth of the bottle to allow the cap to screw on. Unfortunately, water could work its way on the inside of the plastic molding where it overlapped the steel on the inside of the bottle. Over time, a nice funky black mildew (YUCK) formed on the inside of that lining and is impossible to get to with a brush. I hand washed the bottle, cap, and straw on a regular basis.

If you look at the picture I've included, you can see the gap between the plastic and the stainless steel. If you look closely, you can see the dark shadows of mildew on the other side of the plastic.

disappointing!

Comments about eddy Stainless .7L by CamelBak:

This item was bought to replace an older Camelbak bottle. The Eddy does not compare, although it looks similar and was not an inexpensive bottle. I wonder if we received the wrong item? When filled with ice and a cold beverage, The Eddy quickly developed condensation on the outside and the ice didn't even last 2 hours. I would really like a refund or exchange for the old style bottle.

It goes everywhere I go, everyday

Comments about eddy Stainless .7L by CamelBak:

This water bottle goes everywhere I go, everyday. Ive had it for at least 6 years. Only places it didn't go was Hawaii and Jamaica and I regretted not bringing it. Ive dropped it so it has a few dents on the bottom. My husband is in construction and he takes his to work everyday. Some people have complained about the bottle leaking, If you fill the water bottle to just below the narrowing near the top, you won't have any problems with it leaking. I've given them for gifts, all ways a huge hit.

Comments about eddy Stainless .7L by CamelBak:

I like the "straw" design, so that I don't have to tilt the bottle up to drink - which is why I bought this bottle. However, the "nozzle" is made of a soft plastic material and it requires that one "bites" it to get the water flowing. After 3 weeks, it wasn't working, so I took off the soft part and used the remaining hard plastic nib to drink. After a couple of weeks, it started to leak and was unusable. I returned it. I had an older Camelbak water bottle with a hard plastic nib that worked really well - but after several years, I had to replace it - and found that the model wasn't made anymore; this one was the replacement and was disappointing.

I wanted a water bottle that was BPA free, wouldn't leak, with a straw so I don't have to tip my head when I'm driving, and a flip top bite valve. This bottle meets all these requirements and the water tastes great, not like plastic.

Comments about eddy Stainless .7L by CamelBak:

I love the look of this bottle, and love that it is mostly plastic free - makes me a lot happier. However this bottle has leaked from day 1, just a small tiny leak from under the cap. It leaks in my bag, it also leaks while i'm drinking, again just a small stream from under the cap. I see other reviews here saying theirs doesn't leak, so i'm going to send mine back for warranty replacement and hopefully get one that doesn't leak. If that happens, I would be 100% happy with this bottle, I love the bite valve - so easy when on the go and actually makes me drink more water.

Comments about eddy Stainless .7L by CamelBak:

First and foremost, i bought the bottle for the looks and the CamelBak name. I rely on CamelBak's products when i am out and about in the wilderness or outdoors with friends and family. I found quickly that the stainless steel construction does not insulate at all. It condensates water very quick which warms cold water, like your soda can, and it melts ice very quick. This makes it undesirable for use at the office, in the car, or anywhere where you would not want condensation to build up. But that said, the metal construction makes it way more durable than the plastic one, which is why i choose to use this one outdoors. All in all, just use some common sense when buying metal hydration containers. It's going to sweat a lot. But I would buy another one if i had to.
