CLEANING THE EDDY The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid: Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink?
The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
We do not recommend using with hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with boiling water or stored in below freezing temperatures. We do not recommend boiling the bottle itself. Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?

Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

Does the CamelBak® eddy™ work with back country purifier filters/microfilters?
The CamelBak® eddy™ is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening (in other words, it’s compatible with most filters on the market).

Does it hold residual taste?
No, there is no residual taste in the bottle materials, and it’s also stain-resistant. Some sports drinks and other flavored beverages can leave behind residue of flavor oils that could require extra cleaning.

What happens if I take the straw off?
Removal of the straw allows a “tip and sip” mode of drinking.

Had a little race called Tough Mudder which we competed in on the Sunshine Coast, even though they have water stands dotted all over the course, I need my water. I have owned a number of cambelbak products over the years and saw the eddy on sale, knowing the quality I bought it for the pre training and the course itself. It gets ticks in all the boxes.

I have 2 Camelbak Eddy bottles. One in Plum (53357) and the other in Turquoise (53532). I loved these bottles because when exercising it's nice to be able to hydrate without tilting your head back since this causes me to lose my balance when on treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. Safety first hahaha. However, I'm very disappointed with these bottles and the amount of mold that grows in them. I disassemble them and put them through the dishwasher on a very regular basis but the mold continues to grow. I even had to buy baby bottle cleaning brushes in order to try and get all of the mold out because I loved these bottles so much and can no longer use them because I don't want to continue ingesting mold. The time it takes to attempt to get all of the mold off is just not worth it.

          Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

Bought one a few years ago and it finnaly died :(. But I will be replacing it, I can't live without mine. I went throught a lot of different bottles trying to find one that worked for me the best and this if definatly it. I commute by car a lot. This is great because I don't have to hold the bottle infront of my face and tip it up to drink. When I get to work, I work around computers and cant have any open containers, so this works great at preventing spills. Only negative is drinking juice or other sweetend beverages and not immediatly rinsing or washing results in hard to clean mouthpiece and valve mechanism.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

This is absolutely my favorite water bottle. I own at least 10 of them right now. They're great to have at college because they're easy to take to the gym and they're great for after partying. I fill one of them up and stick it in my bed before going out. When I get home I think I'm the greatest person ever because there's a source of unspillable water right there. They're like sippy cups for adults! Great improvement on the last bottle because it's a lot easier to drink from, the flow is just a lot better. They're also really nice to have while I'm backpacking because I don't have to worry about them cracking when I inevitably drop them. Very convenient size as well. fits into backpacks, cup holders, and even my purse.

But, having had several years of success with washing the other models on the bottom without issue I did not even think about it. Today, I unloaded the dishwasher to find three perfectly clean Camelbak bottles and one melted eddy...

                  Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

So to be completely honest, I purchased this because everyone at my school has them. When I first opened it I was completely confused as to how to use it, but after reading the simple three step directions I realized that I had to bite down to use the water bottle. I wasn't crazy about that, but after having this water bottle for just three days I realized that I absolutely love this water bottle and biting the nozzle. People comment about mold or whatever inside the nozzle but if you take it off when you clean the water bottle and leave it off while it dries, you'll be fine. I now bring my bottle everywhere I go, and find myself drinking more than ever before (:

I loved the concept until I tried to drink from it the first time. Had to talk to someone else who owned one to figure out that I needed to gnaw on the mouthpiece to break the initial seal. Bleah! Then I had ice in the bottle and it wept all over my desk and paperwork. Not good! Can see its benefits but needs more work. Definitely needs to be double insulated. Ice melted too quickly for my liking. Then I read postings about mold and will be shelving this versus other more user-friendly models.
