CLEANING THE EDDY
The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid:
Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink?
The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
We do not recommend using with hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with warm water up to 65 ºC/149 ºF or stored in below freezing temperatures.

Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?
Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

Does the CamelBak® eddy™ work with back country purifier filters/microfilters?
The CamelBak® eddy™ is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening (in other words, it’s compatible with most filters on the market).

Does it hold residual taste?
No, there is no residual taste in the bottle materials, and it’s also stain-resistant. Some sports drinks and other flavored beverages can leave behind residue of flavor oils that could require extra cleaning.

What happens if I take the straw off?
Removal of the straw allows a “tip and sip” mode of drinking.

This is my fourth camelbak bottle, and it's definitely my favorite way to stay hydrated. I have to say I'm not crazy about the new sipper design. they changed the lip on it a bit. Now instead of having a plastic grip to move the straw sipper back and fourth it's now part of the sipper. I find it hard to grip and move the sipper from closed to open. I liked having the plastic part better.

I love the bottle though and the hook on the top makes it easy to carry. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to clean it. I've used q tips a few times but after my last one broke I found more dirt underneath the sipper that was hard to get to. I normally just soak it in hot soapy water. Love the product overall.

Uses: college student, always on the move and need a water bottle to keep hydrated.

Pros: Good design with exceptions (see Cons), easy to carry.Holds a decent amount of fluid.

Cons: Leaks from valve hinge when it is in any position but upright. Advertised as "spill-proof" but mine has already leaked onto a notebook and ruined the notebook and the notes in it. If you leave it upright and on a flat surface it is fine but if you carry it in a backpack, like I do, it seems to leak everywhere.
I am in the process of getting a new cap/bite valve (since I thought that the leaking was just a random fault) and was told by a consumer warrenty team member that, and I quote, "The bottles are not designed to be on their sides or upside down, they will always drip if they are on their sides or upside down" which seems to contradict the "spill-proof" statement. Don't advertise a "spill-proof" bottle if it leaks.

Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

Love the camel bak bottle products. However, I do not like the new valve! It makes it more difficult to open the bottle to drink from because it's too squishy, there isn't a sturdy plastic piece to help you flip it open like on the "better bottle" style I have. Overall I still like and enjoy the product.

Why make a dishwasher safe bottle for the top rack when it doesn't fit in the top rack? Enough said! Mine melted on bottom rack, outside edge (away from heating unit). Who wants to hand wash anything with modern technology available? Not I... Will not be replacing it.

      Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I thought this water bottle would better due to the fact that it was name brand, so I didnt mind spending the extra few bucks on it. The bottle worked great for the first days, I loved it, I was drinking water like it was going out of style. But one day I left the bottle half full in my car on a warm day, when I returned all the water had rose up throw the straw and all over my car. Not fun. The next day I left the bottle in my car again this time I drank all the water except for the tiny bit you can't get out of the bottom from the straw, thinking this would be fine. I was wrong, the little bit evaporated up through the straw and into the car. Next time I am buying a bottle with a twist lid.

      No Condensation, but Leaks

        Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I use the bottle primarily to keep water with me at work, class, or at the gym. The bottle itself is good and I like that condensation is minimal, if there's any. It's also easy to take apart the pieces to clean it out well. However, after a couple months, the bottle began to leak a lot. Nothing is cracked or seems broken, but enough water puddles by the mouthpiece that it overflows and will puddle wherever it's sitting or spill on me if I move it.
I've had a CamelBak before and loved it. With that one I didn't have this problem until the mouthpiece cracked, so I'm not sure if it's the eddy bottle or just mine. Either way, it's not worth the money spent on it.

Why get rid of the measurement markings?

            Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

Why would you make a new product worse than the old one by removing the measurement markings on the bottle? I specifically use the bottle to help me gauge the 8 ounce mark on my old bottle to make shakes. I don't know why they would remove the measurement markings on the new bottle. I'll have to go to a new product now.

I used my bottle every day! It kept me hydrated and I like that it has the measurement so you can keep track of how much water you drink each day. I was very disappointed that the bottle would leak like crazy sometimes, especially since it is marked "leak proof"! It would spill all over my pants. Also, there is mold on the inside of the bite valve as there is no way to clean that part. I am a little disappointed because I loved this bottle when it worked right.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I got this water bottle last April 2012 and it is easily the best one I have ever had. I am 16 years old and I bring this bottle with me every day to school in my backpack to drink from, and I've also brought it with me on summer trips. After a year's use, this bottle has mostly kept itself nice except for a few scratches. My only gripe about it is that the bite valve itself had torn and now it is no longer leak proof. Also, the hinge on it has become weak and doesn't keep the bite valve in place any longer. Today I replaced this bottle with the Eddy 6L insulated bottle because I needed a new bottle and one that didn't sweat. To summarize, if you buy one of these bottles, you will get a great year's use out of it! HIGHLY recommended! Thank you, Camelbak for creating such fantastic water bottles.

I liked the bottle at first, bought one for me and one for my husband. They turned out to be a disappointment though, as we have had to replace the tops twice each since they leak. And you really have to bite down on the valve and suck hard to get much water out of it. Cust. Service sent me new tops right away, but even the new ones leak...Not worth it. Disappointed with the quality of this product.

                  Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

This is my third Camelbak bottle and I swear by them. I am a dietitian and love to live what I preach. Part of that is increasing water intake throughout the day and the Camelbak is the easiest way to do that. Hands-free drinking in the car, during an outdoor adventure or sipping during free time. It fits well in the standard car cup holder.

Be sure to clean under the sipper portion often and watch on hot days especially if you leave your Camelbak in the car because of the pressure change your bottle may overflow.

I like the Better Bottle design best simply because the plastic sipper is much easier to bite and drink through. Please go back to the old design for the sipper portion and I'll make the rating 5 stars.

This is a frequent gift that I love to pass along with the assurance of the lifetime warranty.
