CLEANING THE EDDY The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid: Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink?
The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
We do not recommend using with hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with boiling water or stored in below freezing temperatures. We do not recommend boiling the bottle itself. Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?

Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

Does the CamelBak® eddy™ work with back country purifier filters/microfilters?
The CamelBak® eddy™ is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening (in other words, it’s compatible with most filters on the market).

Does it hold residual taste?
No, there is no residual taste in the bottle materials, and it’s also stain-resistant. Some sports drinks and other flavored beverages can leave behind residue of flavor oils that could require extra cleaning.

What happens if I take the straw off?
Removal of the straw allows a “tip and sip” mode of drinking.

Had a little race called Tough Mudder which we competed in on the Sunshine Coast, even though they have water stands dotted all over the course, I need my water. I have owned a number of cambelbak products over the years and saw the eddy on sale, knowing the quality I bought it for the pre training and the course itself. It gets ticks in all the boxes.

I have 2 Camelbak Eddy bottles. One in Plum (53357) and the other in Turquoise (53532). I loved these bottles because when exercising it's nice to be able to hydrate without tilting your head back since this causes me to lose my balance when on treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. Safety first hahaha. However, I'm very disappointed with these bottles and the amount of mold that grows in them. I disassemble them and put them through the dishwasher on a very regular basis but the mold continues to grow. I even had to buy baby bottle cleaning brushes in order to try and get all of the mold out because I loved these bottles so much and can no longer use them because I don't want to continue ingesting mold. The time it takes to attempt to get all of the mold off is just not worth it.

        Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I have had three different Camelbaks. I love them all since I can use them everywhere. I think they're worth the money since I no longer need to consistently buy plastic water bottles. The big down fall is that every Camelbak that I buy ends of leaking.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

This is now my third camelbak bottle, first one a vendor give-away, second one a gift, this one I bought. I like the design of this bottle because I find it easier to drink from a straw than to tip my head back, especially when driving, walking on a treadmill, spin class, etc. I can't always stop what I'm doing to drink some water but I want to stay hydrated.

But one of the biggest annoyances of this bottle is how much it leaks. I had it 1/3 full of water before a flight and it fell on its side in my bag, leaking at least half of the contents. By the way, I had the lid on tight and the straw folded in so as to prevent this. It also leaks out the straw frequently, usually when the water is really cold. As the water starts to warm up and expand, it leaks out of the straw. This happens to the point of the water squirting out of the straw, not just a couple of drops. This has happened with all three bottles. The only thing that really stops the "leaking out of the straw" from happening is to not screw the lid on tight, which completely defeats the purpose of a bottle. Without a tight lid, the water will leak around the mouth of the bottle, with a tight lid the water leaks out of the straw. This will be my last camelbak bottle purchase as I prefer to drink my water, not wear it or have it spilled all over my car.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I am on my 4th Eddy and have had the same problem with every single one so this will be my last. Mold builds in the straw no matter how many times you clean it. I bought a baby bottle cleaner brush and use the tiny brush to clean the bite valve and straw. Every single time right after I clean it, it starts to leak. Water builds up in the top so when I move it, water spills out. If you could buy new tops, in the normal grey (NOT purple and red), I would consider keeping it. The plastic bottle itself is durable, but something is wrong with the top.

For the price of the bottle it's very unpractical. I use it for school, but this product is not good. The hose will get loose some time, then you have to put your hand inside the bottle. The drink tip have no cover.

I got a camelbak this past summer just before going on a camping trip and I was not disappointed. It's honestly a fantastic water bottle, it makes me drink more water and I love that you don't have to tip your head back. Also, I used to have a nalgene but I would spill water all over myself whenever it was full and that sucked. Unfortunately, my camelbak is a little busted now. The nipple won't stay down and leaks at the bottom which is just kind of irritating. This happened though after I essentially went bouldering and it was attached to a backpack that was slammed off rocks and through a creek so it's understandable. I love it because it's so fun to use and looks good too. Just be careful not to drop it. I've also heard from friends who've bought it and the nipple wasn't cut so you can't drink it. Be careful with it and buy in store would be my advice but it's otherwise a solid purchase.

This is the adult baby bottle. Perfect for the bed side. My only gripe is that it isn't great for chugging water. Its a sipping bottle. You could always take the cap off of you want to slam down some water. This admittedly isn't a design flaw as the rubber nibble was designed to not leak.

I woke up this morning with this thing side down next to me in bed with the nipple up. No leaks. People have complained that it leaks but I haven't seen this issue. I have never washed mine in the dishwasher though. After reading the other reviews I think I'll continue to hand wash it because I suspect the high heat of the washer might be warping the bottles a bit and causing them to leak.

Also, it's 750ML. A regular bottle of wine is 750ML. Take note Soccer Moms and Urban Park Hikers!!!!

I bought this water bottle a week ago while I was out of town at a sporting goods store. Now a week later I am finding that it leaks all over. I leave it on my passenger seat on the way to class everyday, it does not fit in my cup holder, just to find a wet passenger seat. Same goes for my backpack, I put it in the side pocket of my backpack and the moving around causes water to hide in all the nooks and crannies of the bottle, just to leak all over me the next time I go to take a drink.
My sister does not have this problem with her bottle, so it must be a hit and miss from production... just wish mine didn't get me wet all the time.
I'm torn because I have other bottles that don't leak as readily as this one, but I am in love with the straw because I find I drink more water with it...
