CLEANING THE EDDY The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid: Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink?
The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
We do not recommend using with hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with boiling water or stored in below freezing temperatures. We do not recommend boiling the bottle itself. Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?

Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

Does the CamelBak® eddy™ work with back country purifier filters/microfilters?
The CamelBak® eddy™ is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening (in other words, it’s compatible with most filters on the market).

Does it hold residual taste?
No, there is no residual taste in the bottle materials, and it’s also stain-resistant. Some sports drinks and other flavored beverages can leave behind residue of flavor oils that could require extra cleaning.

What happens if I take the straw off?
Removal of the straw allows a “tip and sip” mode of drinking.

Had a little race called Tough Mudder which we competed in on the Sunshine Coast, even though they have water stands dotted all over the course, I need my water. I have owned a number of cambelbak products over the years and saw the eddy on sale, knowing the quality I bought it for the pre training and the course itself. It gets ticks in all the boxes.

I have 2 Camelbak Eddy bottles. One in Plum (53357) and the other in Turquoise (53532). I loved these bottles because when exercising it's nice to be able to hydrate without tilting your head back since this causes me to lose my balance when on treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. Safety first hahaha. However, I'm very disappointed with these bottles and the amount of mold that grows in them. I disassemble them and put them through the dishwasher on a very regular basis but the mold continues to grow. I even had to buy baby bottle cleaning brushes in order to try and get all of the mold out because I loved these bottles so much and can no longer use them because I don't want to continue ingesting mold. The time it takes to attempt to get all of the mold off is just not worth it.

I have been using Camelbaks for several years, and accidentally put my last one in the bottom rack of the dishwasher and melted part of it. :( I ordered a new one and it came quickly and is just what I needed, with no leaking! I love these bottles!

I use this water bottle several times a day; in fact, I have two of them. I love that I don't have to tip the bottle to drink, which is especially nice while driving, and it's spill proof. The only thing I'd say is that the lid has to be replaced periodically because it starts to leak; otherwise, it's the best bottle on the market, at least in my humble opinion.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I bought myself one of these water bottles about 5 years ago, and I had to stop using it because it leaked and the mouthpiece broke. Even though it leaked, I still used it every day for a long time, maybe a year or two. I would bring it to school, use it during sports practices and just everyday life, but I would have to pay attention make sure it remained upright all the time or else it would leak all over my stuff. This was irritating because I wanted to just toss it in my purse/backpack/gym bag and go. The second Camelbak Eddy I own was given to me as a gift, and this one has other issues with leaking. It not only leaks when it gets tipped over, but it will leak while its standing straight up. If I have it in my car cupholder while I'm going somewhere, by the time I reach my destination it has filled my cupolder with about an inch of water. I'm not sure why but the water continuously creeps up the straw and out the top, not matter HOW I put the top on. It also explodes water all over me when I flip the mouthpiece up to take a drink, which is awesome when I am in work clothes and end up with water all over me. All in all this is the worst water bottle ever. And CamelBak boasts about a lifetime guarantee on their products but I filled out a request for a new mouthpiece for my old one and no replacement was sent nor did I hear any word from them regarding the issue. Also, as a sidenote, it is really hard to clean inside the mouthpiece and it often becomes moldy.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

Great item at first, but after just a couple of weeks the snap back of the nozzle stopped working, it has started leaking even when standing up straight? Also the inside of the lid gets mouldy and smelly very quickly (within a few hours some days). It appears that the inside of the lid - which is fully assembled and cannot be taken apart - pools water inside. Shaking vigorously gets the water out, but having to do this a few times a day to keep the water out. I would love to keep using it, as usability is fantastic! Just these few really bad traits prevents me from using this anymore, just after a few short weeks...

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

Although it leaks occasionally, it really isn't a huge problem, and I love my CamelBak. I bought it myself from a previous recommendation and I haven't regretted it. As someone who sometimes loses things, I lost my first one, an insulated Eddy. I purchased another one, this time just an Eddy. My favorite parts about the product:
              -Easy to clean
              -Easy to assemble/disassemble
              -Lid/mouthpiece is usually leak-proof
-AFFORDABLE --> I love that it doesn't break the bank if I replace it, and the parts are inexpensive as well! No need to buy an entire new model just because one thing isn't working/is worn out.
I recommend it to everyone who needs a water bottle, and I actually did a presentation of how great it was in my marketing class.

              Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I used the eddy daily as an active college student who swims, hikes, and dances. The eddy is a bit big for standard backpack waterbottle pockets, but the North Face Recon held it snug with a bit of a stretch. I bought the eddy freshman year, loved it the first few months, and then soon realized its faults. The bite valve lost its "snap" placement after a few months of normal use (no drops) and quickly attracted dirt outside AND inside the nozzle (brown muck inside = hard to clean). The valve leaks water when ascending small altitudes (200 ft difference in elevation), and sometimes creates a bubbling noise from a hole in the seal (due to change in pressure most likely). The eddy is best for everyday, light exercise and use. Otherwise, I would not recommend it for highly active individuals.
