CLEANING THE EDDY
The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid:
Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink?
The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
We do not recommend using with hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with warm water up to 65 ºC/149 ºF or stored in below freezing temperatures.

Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?
Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

Does the CamelBak® eddy™ work with back country purifier filters/microfilters?
The CamelBak® eddy™ is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening (in other words, it’s compatible with most filters on the market).

Does it hold residual taste?
No, there is no residual taste in the bottle materials, and it’s also stain-resistant. Some sports drinks and other flavored beverages can leave behind residue of flavor oils that could require extra cleaning.

Had a little race called Tough Mudder which we competed in on the Sunshine Coast, even though they have water stands dotted all over the course, I need my water. I have owned a number of cambelbak products over the years and saw the eddy on sale, knowing the quality I bought it for the pre training and the course itself. It gets ticks in all the boxes.

I have used many camelbak products and have never had a problem untill now. When I got the water bottle I gave it quick rinse and was goo, then the first time I went to really clean the water bottle I cleaned the mouth peice and the plastic straw as well as the bottle, later on I desided to pull it apart and I found that the plastic hose inside(the one you cant take out without disesembling)I noticed it had been covered with bacteria. the only way to avoid this is to go and spend more money and get the cleaning kit.

    Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

Very disappointed in the longevity of this water bottle. I haven't even had it for 8 months and I'm already in the market for a new water bottle. The lid seems to leak slowly: if I turn the bottle upside down, water doesn't drip out, but if I leave it on its side for half an hour, I come back to a wet bag or counter top. The bite valve gets moldy very easily.

    Would not buy again.

I like it but hate the leak

          Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

It is simple but unfortunate science. You put the drink in cold, and there is at lease some air in the bottle. The air initially becomes cold, but as the drink warms, so does the air. As the air warms it expands. The little valve in the top that lets air in when you drink, won't let air out, so the expanding air pushes on the water which ultimately goes up the straw and out the top.

If it warms enough, especially in a hot car it will fill up your cup holder. At a minimum it puts a little of your drink in the top around the mouthpiece which will dribble down your front when you take your next drink.

Maybe they should work on an air release valve that will allow air in or out, but not let water out. These valves usually have a little float ball. Good luck.

          Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I tend to leave this at work because I need a water bottle that will not spill (as I work with computers) and something that is fast to use and convenient.
I have a hook under my desk that I hook the bottle on to keep it out of the way, but still have quick access to it.

The great thing is when I need it after work I just fill it up (sometimes with ice so it will stay cold longer) and throw it in my bag. I have never had any issues with it leaky. As long as you put the cap on correctly and tight it seems to keep the water in. The only time I have had issues with this is when it's warm out and the water bottle sweats. Then I am unable to put it in my bag.

I bring this to the gym, when I go for walks, bike rides, the movies, on a road trip.. etc

I have not had any issues with cleaning. But I have not done a deep clean on it. If I were going to do this I would put in in the dish washer or some boiling water. I do wish the straw reached the bottom.

I am looking to buy another one! Love this product!

          Comments about CamelBak eddy™ .75L:

I have always loved camelbak products and love the idea of this water bottle. I purchased mine to take to classes and out and about. However, I began to notice that the bottle leaked through the top after sitting out for more than 30 or so minutes. This is obviously a problem as most people will leave a water bottle in one place quite often. I thought it might just be a problem with my water bottle, so I bought an identical one. Unfortunately, the same thing has happened with this one. I am extremely disappointed in the design of this water bottle that allows it to leak.

I have had my camelbak for several years, the biggest problem is it leaks from the top- the mouthpiece...it seems to build up pressure and leak out when sitting. I am going to try the one without the straw/mouthpiece now.

I had a similar bottle with a twist cap that I wore out. I bought this as a replacement. It leaks from the part the water comes out of. When I leave it in my car and it heats up, water goes up and out the staw and fills my cup holder. This is a poor design for outdoor activity as the mouth piece gets dirty easily.
