CLEANING THE EDDY The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

To re-assemble the lid: Flip the stem collar (the component the bite valve attached to originally) to the open position. Orient the bite valve so the finger tab points towards the front of the cap. Push the bite valve firmly onto the stem collar. Press the straw back into place on the bottom of the lid. Ensure the straw covers the notches completely.

FAQ

First-time use: What’s the clear thing on top of the cap for? Do I remove it or cut it to drink?
The clear thing is the CamelBak® Big Bite™ Valve. This patented feature provides easy drinking and spill-proof safety. Do NOT remove or cut this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak® eddy™ with bite valve?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

  1. The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
  2. The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Can I use the CamelBak® eddy™ in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)?
Yes, but with special care because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. Keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip. You may also twist the cap open to release any pressure and then close before your first sip.

Can I put hot liquids in it?
We do not recommend using with hot drinks because the experience will be similar to drinking hot liquid through a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice in the CamelBak® eddy™?
Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended.

Can I use with carbonated beverages?
You can use any beverage in the CamelBak® eddy™, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages with the straw configuration because pressure can force liquid out through the straw. To use with carbonated beverages, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip.”

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak® eddy™ withstand?
The CamelBak® eddy™ can withstand being filled with boiling water or stored in below freezing temperatures. We do not recommend boiling the bottle itself. Is the CamelBak® eddy™ microwave safe?

Feel free to use the CamelBak® eddy™ to warm up liquids (ie. up to a minute), but we don’t recommend cooking your dinner in it. Do NOT microwave with the cap in place as it contains metal screws that are not microwave safe.

Does the CamelBak® eddy™ work with back country purifier filters/microfilters?
The CamelBak® eddy™ is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening (in other words, it’s compatible with most filters on the market).

Does it hold residual taste?
No, there is no residual taste in the bottle materials, and it’s also stain-resistant. Some sports drinks and other flavored beverages can leave behind residue of flavor oils that could require extra cleaning.

What happens if I take the straw off?
Removal of the straw allows a “tip and sip” mode of drinking.

I initially go this at the BX in Florida for classroom training purpose. I'm not in the field so no point in a bladder or other products.

The way that condensation works, a cold item in a warmer room promotes condensation due to heat transfer from hot to cold. This being said, taking it out a fridge and placing it on a table will promote a condensation ring to show up on said table. Just sit it on a towel or something(MRE heater humor)

I haven't had the mildew issue people speak of, not saying it isn't possible or a hoax. I don't leave water in mine when it's not in use unless it's in the fridge.

As we moved to outside classroom training, the bottle didn't like to keep water cold for long even with smoked color. I ended up getting the Bottle pouch in NIR compliant FOLIAGE GREEN 90653 and that worked out fine. The bottle then sat for almost a year unused as I didn't need it.

Just recently I started using it again in my civilian life and it started to leak on me but luckily its at the loop end and not the bite valve end. The leak is right where the soft rubber like material meets the hard plastic. There is a tamper torx bit screw that I could tighten possibly, but I will just call em and see how the "Got your BAK lifetime guarantee" will cover my taking a screw driver to the product and modifying it(I.E. make it NOT leak water anymore)

I haven't deployed with this gear or lived an adventurous life so I can't tell you:

*How it holds up to heat cycles of Near the equator desert and freezer extremities
*How it survives being palatalized in cargo straps for a plane trip
*Survives being rolled over on while low crawling.
*If it floats
*If the bottle withstands a dog or other animal holding it in it's mouth w/o puncture

Terrible, terrible, terrible execution on a relatively good idea. The pressure from water (mostly cold water) causes the spout to suck water up to normalize..causing it to leak CONSTANTLY! This is a MAJOR design flaw and I would steer anyone away from this concept. Plus, if you have anything aside from water, be weary of stagnant water in your sipper (yeah, nipple) so it needs to be cleaned thoroughly.

Comments about eddy 1L by CamelBak:

when you put cold water in the container, the water will leak upward through the straw and leak out the bite valve. This is especially bad if you put your cold water-filled camelbak in a hot car while running around town. a large volume of water was all over the seat of my car.

Comments about eddy 1L by CamelBak:

I use the product everyday. It is a good product, but I felt I was misled when the description of the product stated that it would fit into a standard cup holder. It does not fit in my car cub holder; therefore, I recommend that the base be a little smaller.
Other than that, I really like the product and can adjust to the base.

Comments about eddy 1L by CamelBak:

In the past I have very much loved my Eddy water bottles. I have owned several and for the most part have loved them. When I found the 1L bottle I was stoked because I take my bottle with me everywhere I go and I try to drink about 3L a day. It seemed perfect and I still love this bottle for its size and all of the benefits that automatically come with buying a camelbak product. However, it does leak out of the lid. Not from the sides like there is something in the threads, but from under the flip spout, whether the spout is opened or closed. I have attempted to clean under the rubber cap over the vent valve, but there doesn't appear to be anything in the way. Additionally, it doesn't fit in my standard car cupholders, so it ends up on a seat or the floor, always on its side, causing it to leak all over my car. I need my water bottle to be able to withstand my daily activities without destroying my stuff. I will continue to try to fix, but buying a new one in the future would probably not be worth my trouble.

Comments about eddy 1L by CamelBak:

I use my water bottle everyday at the office and at home. Having a water bottle by my side daily promotes more hydration by reminding me to drink water.
Only thing that is slightly a nuisance is the straw fits a bit too tight in its closed position. It would be nicer if it released easier.

Because I live in Arizona, this was an awesome thing to carry around! It held so much water and I never thought I would drink all of the water in a day, I eventually got down three of these!

After a while, though the cap did begin to be iffy and sprung leaks.

Comments about eddy 1L by CamelBak:

The concept of this water bottle isn't bad, however this water bottle leaks a lot, though the leaks are small, they are frequent and troublesome. The water bottle also scratches really easily. However, the spout works well and it is easy to clean and such. This is an alright water bottle, however the leaks are very annoying. But the size is adequate, overall design is nice, and the colors of the water bottle are more bright than in the picture.
