Chute™ 1L

100% free of BPA and BPS.

The new Chute™ 1L water bottle is designed for hydration on demand, whether you’re in the backcountry or sitting at your desk. The ergonomic high-flow spout is angled and contoured for efficient, full-on hydration. The leak-proof, tethered cap twists off with just half a turn and conveniently snaps into the handle so it’s out of the way when you’re drinking. We even put the threads for the cap on the inside of the spout so you get a comfortable lip seal. And the one-piece tether is twice as clever as any you’ll see on the market. It keeps the top locked out of your way for one-handed refills on the go.

For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the cap, spout cap, and tether into the solution, and tightly close the jar’s lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.

I bought this as a replacement for my Eddy, which leaked to high heaven whenever somebody looked at it funny. THIS BOTTLE IS LEAK-PROOF!! And you don't have to suck endlessly in order to drink! It is amazing, and that is all.

However, Camelbak: you need to do 2 things.
1: Post a photo of the cap tucked into the inside of the handle. This is one of the better features of this product, and you're completely leaving it out. I figured this out, but other reviewers haven't, and your commented instructions don't read well.
2: Sell the Chute replacement caps, so I can convert my old Eddy to a Chute!

More colors would help it appeal to a broader audience, but I like mine just fine :) Thanks for making such an awesome product!

Loved it at first. This water bottle came with me to work (sporting goods store where I purchased it) and school, hiking, gym etc. The cap didn't slide into the handle easily like it is advertised but I didn't care. After about 3 months of having this bottle the colored thin piece that is around the rim of the bottle, connected to the drinking spout is completely broken (my bottle is purple so that piece is the orange one). Its too thin, it bends when you use the bottle and therefore the piece eventually breaks. Great design if it lasted longer and worked like it should!

Comments about CamelBak Chute™ 1L:

Just received this water bottle after dropping my Thermos Intak and shattering the lid. I carry my water bottle everywhere. It helps me remember to stay hydrated no matter how silly I may look. I calculated that I should be drinking ~3 liters a day and it's easy to slack when I don't have water readily available. So I am very opinionated about the bottle since I am using it so frequently. I hope my opinions and observations can help someone decide if this is what they want or help Camelbak tweak their designs for a more appealing and versatile product.

Reasons I like this item:
1) 1 Liter capacity (go longer between refills)
2) Not top heavy, does not tip easy even when full
3) Fits (barely) in my car cup holder (09 Civic)
4) Attached cap (no dropping the cap, keep mouth piece clean)
5) Sturdy Handle
6) Easy to clean (simple design with few parts/crevices and easy assembly)
7) Easy to drink from (mouth piece is a good size for fast or slow drinking)
8) Cap holder is nice when you want it open for a while.
9) Design/Materials seem very sturdy
10) Good shape and size (may be awkward for small hands when grasping the bottle)

Things I'm not a fan of:
1) The handle is in a fixed position. This design works but is often uncomfortable in the hand as well as when on a carabiner. I'm also afraid that if the handle experiences decent impact it will just snap off. It seems very sturdy, but it does have some flex with just my hand and medium pressure. Not far-fetched for it to snap off.

- Side Note for CamelBak: It would be nice if the handle was on a hinge of sorts so it can have ~180* of movement if favoring one side if the cap (current position). If the handle was affixed to the middle of the cap on either side it would be a much more comfortable carry. However, this would require making the handle larger to fall to the side of the bottle (clearing the cap and lid) and less durable since the hinge is divided into two rather than one piece. The movement in a hinged handle could also allow a higher chance of survival in an impact rather than a rigid fixed handle.

2) The cap is nice but it is a little tricky to remove. You will most likely require 2 hands to remove the cap despite its limited threads. The plastic that tethers it to the bottle is restrictive to the cap's movement. So what happens is when you go to pull the cap off you can't pull it from the spout easily, it gets hung up. This is a bit annoying as you feel like you are fighting with it a little. You can get a smooth removal but you will have to tug on the plastic tether to get some slack then pull straight up and off. I'm sure over time it may become a habit or muscle memory and it won't be an issue anymore, but it would be nice to not have to think about it. If the cap was tethered with a 550 cord or something similar with more slack it may be easier. It would also prevent the cap from flinging back into position due to the plastic's memory (could be good or bad depending on perspective).

- Side note for CamelBak: In order to attach 550 cord to the cap, a small plastic loop (or two) could be added to the cap. This would potentially make removing the cap a one hand operation. The plastic loop could be used as a push/pull point for your thumb while the rest of your hand braces the bottle. This will add functionality and appeal to the product. At home or outdoor users of the item would benefit from this addition. Also, the 550 cord is a potentially lifesaving addition if in a survival situation.

3) The lid's cap holder…. This is a bit of a joke. If you plan to leave the cap off for a long time then it's a decent idea. But if you just want a swig you will waste more time forcing the cap into its locked position than you will taking a swig. So you end up awkwardly holding the cap back and the bottle in one hand while you take a drink. Again, this could be solved by using 550 cord or something similar because the cord would let the cap dangle and not have a memory like the plastic that wants the cap to fling back into position where your face is.

I loved my camel bak eddie. I've had it for 2 years and use it daily. I received a Chute this year as a gift for Christmas and it leaked right away. It filled my bag with water. I am happy it didn't ruin anything I had in my bag. I got a new lid sent to me for free and sure enough, the lid leaks. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated.

          Comments about CamelBak Chute™ 1L:

So, I really love this water bottle because of how much water it holds. I truly think I drink a lot more water here because it flows out of the mouth piece effortlessly. The mouth piece is curved and narrow, so there's no awkward spilling or sloshing. I prefer this over the straw eddy. I keep this bottle on my desk at school (I am a teacher and hydration is important!), so I haven't experienced any leakage, but then again, I rarely carry it around. This is because I chose to purchase the larger 1000ml one and it doesn't fit comfortably in my car cupholder or in the machines at my gym. I keep the screw cap lid pulled back and clipped ALWAYS. Since it's always like that, I am noticing some wear and tear on the thin strap. Looking at other reviews, I am sure that it will break off at some point, but I will probably continue to use it. I will say I get annoyed when my nose bumps into the lid, even when it's hooked it. I didn't even realize it was happening until I saw my make up on the screw cap lid. The screw cap lid also does not effortlessly slide in to its hook either - but again, rarely do I hook and unhook it anyway. Other than that - of course, like most camelbaks, it sweats. They are pretty easy to fill; usually I don't even take the lid off and I just fill it using the mouthpiece! Overall, I love it because I drink twice as much water using this bottle!

            Comments about CamelBak Chute™ 1L:

For the first month or so since I had this water bottle, there was no sign of leakage whatsoever. However, in the past few weeks, I've been noticing some leakage when I left it in my backpack. The first few spills were minor and only made some of my notebooks wet so I continued to use it anyways. However, today, it leaked and about 0.50-0.75 L of water came out of it in my backpack and damaged my MacBook Pro. Like the reviewer, tejal, this faulty water bottle costed me ~$1500. And yes, I did check if the lid was tight prior to putting my water bottle into my backpack. I will not be purchasing any water bottle from CamelBak again.

This bottle is advertised as a leakproof bottle but it is no where close to leak proof. The bottle leaks like crazy when tilted at an angle and costed me my macbook pro. I wish there was a option to give it no stars.

PS. I did check to see if I hadn't shut the bottle cap right. I tried tigthening the cap as much as I can and it still drips. I am never taking this bottle anywhere with me or buying camelbak products again. This bottle COSTED $1200. Never ever buy this bottle please.

I go to a college where EVERYONE has a Camelbak water bottle. I decided to invest in one. I'm very picky about water bottles, because a lot of them make the water taste like plastic. This one definitely doesn't! The water tastes great. The only problem is that the bottle sweats. A LOT. I have to put a paper towel under it at my desk or else everything will get wet. Overall a great investment!
