RESERVOIR CLEANING
The best way to care for your reservoir is to clean and dry it after every use, especially if you fill the reservoir with anything other than water. However, if a reservoir has not been cleaned after every use, and mold or discoloration develops:

  1. Use hot water and a CamelBak Cleaning Tablet. (Or use 2 tablespoons of baking soda or bleach instead of CamelBak Cleaning Tab.) Mix the solution inside your reservoir and elevate the reservoir above the tube and Big Bite Valve. Pinch the bite valve, allowing the solution to flow into the drink tube and fill the bite valve.
  2. Let the reservoir and cleaning solution sit in the reservoir and drink tube for about 30 minutes.
  3. Wash the reservoir with hot water and mild soap. Be sure to completely rinse away the cleaning solution in the reservoir and drink tube before using again. You can also use CamelBak brushes from our Cleaning Kit to scrub your reservoir and drink tube. Brushes are the best way to ensure you are scrubbing all of the areas of the reservoir clean.
  4. Once the reservoir is clean, be sure to air dry overnight so no moisture is trapped inside, which can cause mold to grow.

These steps will make your reservoir safe for use. If there are still spots left behind, these are permanent mold stains that may not be removable. However, your reservoir is still safe and usable after you’ve cleaned it.

I have used this reservoir a lot and it is great but I have noticed that where the tube and bladder connect it leaks. Not sure if other people have had this sort of problem. I run a lot and like having my pack with me to stay hydrated. I have put this bladder in my husband's pack to see if it was my pack causing it to leak and it still leaked in his. I may just have to buy a new bladder. I still recommend this style though.

This is the THIRD pack I've gone through. The first one developed a leak in the valve, you sent me a replacement for it. The replacement just sprung a leak. I used a very old one for a while, and thought that would work until I could get a new one. well, that one started leaking from the screw top. The plastic is obviously thin and cheap and not at all durable. You may have had a quality product at one time, but in my opinion not any more. I will be buying a different brand from now on. It's not fun being stuck going up a hill on a HOT day only to find that your bag has leaked out and there's no water left. It's also not fun having it leak all over your car and damaging things in your car seat. I'm done.

Comments about Antidote Reservoir 70 oz/2.0L by CamelBak:

I have had several CamelBak reservoirs/bladders over the years, and have had nothing but great experiences. So when I needed to replace my bladder, I automatically reached for a CamelBak product. For the first time in over 15 years, this was a mistake. The new reservoir does not live up to the CamelBak name. The fill point is super hard to open, and next to impossible to close when filled. The dial has to be lined up just so, and if it's not, it will leak. I find it extremely difficult to turn, and often can't get it to close all the way.
The arms on the side to help open the bag to dry are a good idea, but the execution is poor. Normally you would want to hang your bladder with the fill point at the bottom, to allow gravity to get the last drips out. However, the only hook for hanging is at the other end of the bladder.
This redesign completely misses the mark.

Bought the CamelBak backpack for my husband about a year ago, and the water reservoir got some mold in it, so I got him this replacement. It works well. someone told us that we should stick it in the freezer between uses to keep mold away. We'll try that this time.

we bought a back pack with hydration bladder in it and the bladder was junk. I am a distance runner and love my camelbak for running. I decided to purchase a replacement bladder for the new backpack that we use for hiking and geocaching. I love everything about camelbak design and functionality. the locking mouth piece prevents the tip from dripping water. the bladder is tough and durable. the opening for filling is large and the lid is thin so no bulky cap pressing in your back. I am sold on camelbak.

Recently I purchased a 2L Camelbak Hydration pack to use in Spain while walking the Way. It was easy to fill and to use. I filled it every morning and by mid day when I arrived at my destination I was hydrated and only had a few ounces of water left on the pack. During the walk there was no change in the way my backpack felt with the camelbak been partially empty. It never leaked a drop during 49 days.

I have had this bladder for well over 2 years, have biked and backpacked hundreds of miles with it, and it has held up very well. It is easily fillable with a filter or faucet, is very light, and very durable. I have cut the hose as it is too long for both of my packs, and it was easy to adjust the length. So far, no leaks.

I love taking my CamelBak on my hiking adventures. It so convenient and practical. However, I got a very unpleasant surprise on during my last 2 trips when I found that the water was spilling down my back. There seems to be a leak in the area where the tube connects to the reservoir. In any case I will most likely just replace my reservoir as I am happy with the product itself.
